MINUTES OF THE PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD

September 16, 2013

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Saint Peter Parks & Recreation Advisory Board was conducted in the Conference Room of the Department of Public Works in the City of Saint Peter on September 16, 2013.

Due to lack of quorum at 7:00 p.m. Vice Chairperson Steve Alger called the meeting to order at 7:52 p.m. when a quorum was present.

The following Board Members were present: L. Lee Alger, Steve Alger, Bill Kautt, Bob Meeks, Larry Potts and David Ringler. The following Board Members were absent: Jeff Brand, Charles Burgess, Stuart Douglas, Jennifer Leslie, and Mike Meffert.  The following ex-officio was present:  Jane Timmerman, Recreation and Leisure Services Director.
 
Approval of Agenda – Bill Kautt made a motion, seconded by Larry Potts, to approve the agenda.  With all in favor, the agenda was approved.

Approval of Minutes – Bill Kautt made a motion, seconded by Bob Meeks, to approve the minutes of the April 15, 2013 meeting.  With all in favor, the minutes were approved.

Multi Use Recreational Trails – David Newell, Dan Oachs, and Paul Hanson provided an update on the multi use recreational trails in Traverse des Sioux Park and requested recommendation to proceed with construction of the trails.  In motion by Meeks, seconded by Kautt, Resolution No. 2013-01 entitled “Resolution Recommending Approval of the Final Bicycle Trail Plan for Traverse des Sioux Park and Authorizing Construction of the Trail” was introduced.  Upon roll call, with all in favor, the Resolution was declared passed and adopted.

New Business
Tim Mayo, Maintenance Superintendent, informed the Board that a vendor “GameTIme“ has a current promotion where they will match funds 100%.  Lee Alger volunteered to inform the school superintendent about the program.

A. Ramsey Park – City Engineer, Jeff Domras, explained the Washington Avenue Link Project and it’s relation to Ramsey Park.  Ramsey Park will now be visible/accessible from the new North Washington Avenue.  Construction is to begin next spring and completed late fall.   There will be sidewalks constructed and trees planted from Sumner Street to Dodd Avenue.  The old Washington Avenue will become a trail.  A baseball diamond for pick-up games and 13-14 year old play was recommended for Ramsey Park.

Adjournment – Bob Meeks made a motion, seconded by Dave Ringler to adjourn the meeting.  With all in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 8:23 p.m.
